Climate Information

I am providing a list of a few resources which I found to be most useful when gathering information about my study area's climate. It is beneficial to have these resources in an easily accessible list especially due to the fact that Costa Rica, being out of the country, has fewer reliable climate resources available. Here are a couple that I feel capture the degree of information needed for my intended purposes:



While this source seems to be tourism based, it provides a quick overview of the various climates and where you can expect to find them.

Here is a more detailed breakdown of some common cities. Information on weather by month, average temperatures, humidity, rainfall, etc.  

This source contains some extremely useful interactive graphs that give historical and projected data. Information about climate based on sector, impacts, adaptations, and even vulnerability.

Establishing an Association in Costa Rica

An  association in Costa Rica is a non-profit, tax-exempt entity or organization  in which a group of people are organized for a joint purpose. The law authorizes the creation of Associations for “scientific, artistic, sports, charitable, recreational and any other lawful purposes that are not solely and exclusively for profit or gain.” Steps To Establish: 1: Agree on the constitution of the legal entity. Study Area

I have chosen my study area to be the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica. This place definitely holds a special place in my heart. Last summer, I spent some time at Piro Research Station taking a course on primate behavior and conservation. Although too short, the time I spent here will have an impact on my life forever. I gained much more than the knowledge from the curriculum I studied. The entire station was off the grid, the people and their diverse backgrounds had so much to offer, and the biological diversity I encountered each day was unbelievable. I was able to gain insight on the amazing research that was happening at the center in a way that most people are not given the opportunity. My reasoning for selecting this area is because I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the efforts going into the preservation of the landscape and the species it holds, and I wish nothing more than to see those efforts continue and progress.
